Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. The company was sold to the brokerage to NRT for $66 million. In the following months she resigned from the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's first Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals in February 2020. Her largest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran's entire life. Her family sometimes relied upon free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who often was a drinker and did her mother a disservice and contempt, particularly when he was drinking. Corcoran struggled through her schooling before discovering that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic primary school within her area and began the high school year at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After flunking several courses during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
